Claire Köksal, Content Director of WIZZ Air is commissioning for the December issue of WIZZ Magazine and is looking for stories for London, Vienna, and Morocco. 

Emily Cathcart is seeking proposals for stories on native crafts and hidden gems/in my backyard. 

Conz Preti, Editor at Insider, is looking for pitches from American parents living in Japan. Pay is $250+/article.

Katie Hammel of Going is looking for a writer who can write about ways to keep track of your rewards credit cards and benefits. Pay is ~$500. 

Paige of Insider Travel is looking for a writer for money saving travel hacks that have backfired. Pay starts at $200+. 

The Parliament is accepting pitches on reported features on topics of interest to a European audience. Send before Sep 26, 2023. 

Katie Hammel of Going is looking for a credit card writer and frequent traveler with opinions on if an airline branded credit card is worth it. 

Anealla is seeking pitches on Europe that put people at the heart of a narrative and hold power to account. 

Matador Network is seeking a writer for a Gen X gear article. Pay is $200.

Justin Madden, West Coast Deputy News Editor of the Guardian US is commissioning pieces from California to Texas on a variety of topics. 

AFAR is seeking pitches from Indigenous and Native writers for a package on indigenous travel. Pay is $0.50/word. 

Openly focuses on covering LGBTQ+ stories from around the world and is looking to work with local freelancers in a variety of African countries. 

Eric Nisbaum, EIC of Seattle Met is looking for stories in and around Seattle.

Lindsay Rogers is looking for writers based in Asheville and Denver for Inside Hook.  

Jillian Bolger is the new Food & Travel Editor of Weekend Magazine at the Irish Examiner and is looking for stories. 

The Local Austria is looking for freelance journalists and writers based in Austria to help boost coverage of the country. 

Hajni is looking for stories about markets: Flea markets, listicles, and personal stories. 

Adam Wells is looking for Scotland & Wales-based freelance writers specializing in art, galleries, and exhibitions for paid reviews, interviews, and general articles.

Matador Network is looking for stories about skiing in Europe. Pay is $150 – 200. 

Jack Sommers of Insider is looking for personal essays by people who’ve moved from “rich countries to poorer ones” breaking down the why and how of living and working in their new home.

PUBLICATIONS OPENLY ACCEPTING PITCHES: 

Subaru Drive Magazine is seeking pitches on travel, road trips, outdoor recreation and adventure, and more. Pay is ~1/word. 

Pitches from anyone in LA County are being accepted. 

Trails Magazine focuses on backpacking and other outdoor topics like canoe camping and is accepting submissions!.  

Vacationer Magazine is now accepting pitches. The magazine aims to inspire and inform LGBTQIA+ travelers to help them travel better, smarter, and more safely. Pay ranges from $75 – $200. 

High Country News focuses on coverage of the Western U.S. through coverage of its people, communities, and landscapes. Pay ranges from $0.50 – $1.50 per word. 

Going is accepting airline and airline class guides that dive into either a specific airline or a specific class of service on a specific airline. Pay ranges, but starts at $300 – $400+. 

Berkeleyside is accepting stories about issues happening in Berkeley communities and neighborhoods. 

Katie Hammel of Going is looking for local experts (you live there or visit often) to write about destinations including Darwin, Azores, Chang Mai or Bangkok, Cairo, Finland, Okinawa, Ecuador, or Tulum for our Places newsletter. Pay starts at $300. 

Going is accepting destination pitches for their weekly newsletter that go deep into a single destination–a city, region, island, state, and sometimes a whole country–to talk about what makes it like nowhere else on earth. Pay starts at $300. 

Going has a new food newsletter they are accepting pitches for. This one dives into a dish that travelers may encounter in a specific place. Pay starts at $400.
